Who lives there?

Werner, Hans and Reuben Klopek and their dog Landru. They took the house from the Knapps and lived there for a month before the events of the film. In that time, they allowed the foliage to die off but blame for the physical state of the house must be attributable in some part to the Knapps, unless the peeling paint is a result of extreme temperatures from the Klopeks equipment.
